Inspired by her artist brother’s creativity, Denise chose to channel her own gifts through storytelling, trading the paintbrush for a pen. Nothing delights her more than seeing her written words change lives.
After setting writing aside to build her business career, she returned as a monthly columnist for a San Francisco Bay Area magazine. Her articles ranged from interviews with local leaders to stories of residents overcoming drugs, gangs, and life-altering challenges. Her gift for drawing readers close to her subjects made the column a favorite. Drawing on her own life experiences and her relationship with the Lord, she writes straight to the heart.
A business consultant to Fortune 500 companies, former traveling evangelist, and now staff pastor at City Church of Fairfield (a member of Grace International), Denise brings the same dynamic, engaging style to the page that she brings to the pulpit, making complex topics simple and relevant. Her 2017 book, I Want to Smack My Boss: Exploring the Dynamics of a Multi-Generational Workforce, grew out of her consulting work and offers solutions to workplace friction.

If My Pillow Could Speak, is a faith-centered memoir about growing up through hardship, deepening her relationship with God, and discovering peace along the way. Denise considers her greatest success are not the obstacles she overcame, but the peace of mind and strong relationship with the Lord she found through them. By sharing her lessons and being transparent about her struggles, she hopes to help others find that same peace and live a full life.
